Anyone passing through Corte cannot fail to notice this grand building, which adds a splash of blue to the Corte mountains. This stately home was built by the Guelfucci family in 1826; joint ownership and neglect could well have spelled its doom! But that was without reckoning with the tenacious determination of a young couple to breathe new life into this vast residence. Stone by stone, Antoine, the farmer, and Marina, the engineer, gradually brought the place back to life. Though it was a daring undertaking, they never lost heart, always keeping in mind their desire to share this home with others. Today, this beautiful guest house welcomes lovers of old buildings just as much as food lovers in search of healthy, authentic local produce. Around the property, Marina busies herself in her vegetable gardens, growing the fruit and vegetables that will find their way into her delicious cuisine. Antoine, for his part, tends to his vineyard, his sheep and his guests with equal care, particularly when it comes to letting them sample the estate’s wine. Whilst the quality of what’s on offer is undeniable, Marina and Antoine’s kindness and hospitality are exceptional.
