Staziu: TANZTHEATER MASTERCLASS: Pina Bausch with Bénédicte Billiet, Tuesday 29 September 2026 at 10.00 am. As part of its partnership with the University Cultural Centre, the Dissidanse network is offering an exceptional masterclass with Bénédicte Billiet, a former dancer with the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. This session will enable participants to explore technical work inspired by the teaching of Peter Goss, the tradition of the Folkwangschule and Bénédicte Billiet’s experience within Pina Bausch’s company. Through simple exercises, the masterclass will encourage participants to awaken their bodies and work on presence, breathing, mobility of the spine and torso, bounce, arm expression and movement through space. The second part of the masterclass will be devoted to exploring ‘stage material’. Starting with short questions, participants will be encouraged to draw on their own experiences, imagination and individuality to create pieces involving dance, speech, song or mime. The aim will not be to improvise freely, but to create reproducible moments that can be assembled into short scenes or sequences. Bénédicte Billiet A former dancer with the Ballet de Lyon, she has performed with Peter Goss, Dominique Bagouet and numerous other choreographers. Bénédicte Billiet joined the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch in 1981, where she danced until 1989 before returning as an assistant and rehearsal director. Her career, shaped by the Tanztheater, offers participants a rare opportunity to gain an insider’s perspective on a major aesthetic in contemporary dance.
