MEDIATHEQUE : I GHJUVANNALI

MEDIATHEQUE : I GHJUVANNALI

From 13/11 to 13/11.

Screening of the film “I Ghjuvannali” by director Dominique Tiberi, in partnership with Allindì, Friday 13 November – 6.00 pm, Mediateca Centru di Corsica – Corti. “Ghjuvannali” recounts the dramatic history of a unique and progressive community in medieval Corsica. Regarded as heretics by the Church, these Corsicans – comparable to the Italian Fraticelli or the Spiritual Franciscans – proposed an alternative model of society on an island subject to a hierarchical order. The film explores a unique episode in Corsica’s religious and social history. Through the Ghjuvannali, it sheds light on a dissident community, the bearers of an alternative spiritual and social vision, who stood up to ecclesiastical authority and the power structures of their time.
