Over the course of a week, more than 200 artists and musicians from a dozen Mediterranean countries (Algeria, Egypt, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Malta, Morocco, Monaco, Portugal and Tunisia) perform from Cap Corse to Bonifacio, from Bastia to Ajaccio, including many rural towns on the coast and inland. A free festival open to all True to its founding values, the festival offers free access to its entire programme, enabling everyone to discover the richness of Mediterranean music. The concerts take place in a variety of venues - theatres, concert halls, cultural spaces, churches - and appeal to all audiences, including performances for young people in schools. Over 3,000 spectators are expected to attend the entire event. The Barcelona Guitar Orchestra in Corti This year, the Rencontres welcome an exceptional ensemble: the Barcelona Guitar Orchestra, a world pioneer in its discipline with 35 years of experience. Created by Sergi Vicente, this orchestra of 11 guitarists accompanied by 2 dancers has the unique distinction of performing all its programmes by heart, creating a direct and intense connection with the audience. With an international career marked by performances in Havana, Rome, Paris, Vienna and Russia, the orchestra will be stopping off in Corté as part of its tour of the island. A spirit of sharing and fraternity In addition to its artistic quality, the Rencontres Musicales de Méditerranée has a strong humanist mission: to encourage dialogue between Mediterranean cultures, build bridges between peoples, and use music as a means of discovering others and fostering fraternity.
