Lecture: GENOA in the 14th–16th centuries: The cradle of capitalism, Wednesday 24 March 2027 at 2.00 pm, Fabien Levy. Fabien Levy holds a PhD in medieval history (Paris IV). An associate professor, he teaches at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc. A specialist in the history of Genoa, he sheds new light on the role of the Genoese from the 14th to the 16th centuries as agents of the shift from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic. He focuses in particular on the Republic of Genoa as one of the cradles of capitalism in the modern era. Corsica is thus embedded within these intercontinental dynamics, enabling a better understanding of the role played by the island’s leading figures and that of Corsicans who were deeply involved outside the island in this economic environment, which was closely linked to the new geopolitical context.
