FIGHJA E STELLE

FIGHJA E STELLE

From 02/12 to 02/12.

Event: FIGHJÀ E STELLE. Wednesday 2 December 2026 at 6.00 pm, Daniele Mortato, Meet at the community centre in Corti! An event in the Corsican language to present the Corsican names of the stars. The constellations have always held a prominent place amongst the people of yesteryear because of their role as a celestial clock. The names of the constellations reflect the social groups that used them: the fishermen of Balanini and Capicursini, the shepherds and the farmers. From Pumonte to Cismonte, these names highlight both a unity of nomenclature and significant differences, whilst also transporting us back in time to the eras in which they originated. Celestial movements, pilgrimages to places of worship, funeral processions and Eastern legends are woven into the fabric of Corsican culture, recounting its history from a stellar perspective.
