"The ""Granitola"" ceremony, a snail-shaped procession which meanders slowly through the streets of Corte, takes place on the evening of Maundy Thursday. On the evening of Good Friday, Christ and the Virgin Mary are paraded through the streets of the old town in a candlelit procession. Corte is the only town in Corsica where Christ is venerated in the form of a recumbent figure carried by penitents. "
