Through archive footage, animations and a previously unpublished collection of testimonies from first-generation nationalist activists – the earliest ‘eco-terrorists’ – this documentary takes us behind the scenes of a pivotal period in the island’s history. Between 1973 and 1976, the first attacks in Corsica left a lasting mark on people’s minds. Part of the nationalist movement chose the path of direct action to confront a French state deemed deaf to the island’s demands. From the bombing of the Montedison ship to the bloody occupation of the Aleria wine cellar, right through to the first ‘nuits bleues’, this cycle of confrontation would gradually destabilise the state and bring lasting upheaval to Corsica.
