27EME RENCONTRES MUSICALES DE MEDITERRANEE/ CONCERT : FADO DE LISBONNE

From 05/11 to 05/11.

27th Mediterranean Music Festival / Concert: “Fado from Lisbon” with Kalliroi Raouzeou, fado singer, and Jérémie Schacre, guitarist – Mediateca Centru di Corsica – Corti, Thursday 5 November - 6.00 pm. In Lisbon, there is a song which, as night falls, echoes through the winding alleyways and resonates in nostalgic hearts, in the nooks and crannies of the taverns. It is called ‘fado’, that breath which, to the accompaniment of a few chords on a Portuguese guitar, swells the voices, set to the rhythm of poetry and the wounds of fate. Kalliroi Raouzeou, a fado singer by adoption, pays tribute to Lisbon’s fado and navigates between tradition and modernity. Her refined voice resonates with the poetic flourishes of the Portuguese-speaking people. She is accompanied by guitarist Jérémie Schacre, a fellow member of the ‘FadoRebetiko Project’, which won the ‘Prix des Musiques d’ici et d’ailleurs’ in 2019. The repertoire, comprising songs by the ‘ambassador of fado’, Amália Rodrigues, is enriched by original compositions set to the poetry of Fernando Pessoa and Manuel Alegre. The duo are performing for the first time at the Rencontres Musicales de Méditerranée.
