The film employs understated and immersive direction to explore dignity, resilience and the concept of humanity in the face of injustice. This deeply moving film prompts us to question how a society can institutionalise the unjustifiable, to the point of denying humanity amidst the turmoil of a system built on oppression. The film is adapted from a true story based on the memoirs of Solomon Northup, an African-American writer who was enslaved. Programme organised in partnership with the CROUS of Corsica.
