ASSOCIATION MANDEO

The mandolin in Corsica is one of the rare instruments that folk tradition managed to keep alive until the late 1950s with great vigour. But despite the efforts made since then by a number of local folk groups and instrumentalists, the mandolin has gone into decline on the island too. Creating MANDEO, a regional mandolin association to bring together mandolin enthusiasts, music lovers and practitioners, is obviously the first step in revitalising the mandolin and restoring the instrument to its former glory. The international festival E Notte di a Mandulina attracts several thousand people to Corti every summer!
