From 29/04 to 30/04.

Colloquium "Recent metamorphoses in private law. Comparative views on the evolution of general concepts and sources of law". On 29 and 30 April 2026, the EMRJ is organising a conference entitled "Les métamorphoses récentes du droit privé. Regards comparés sur l'évolution des concepts généraux et des sources du droit". Under the scientific direction of Prof. André Giudicelli (Université de Corse) and Prof. Mathieu Devinat (Université de Sherbrooke), this conference will analyse the main recent changes in private law from a comparative law perspective. Convergence and divergence between different national legal systems with a civil law tradition will be highlighted. By bringing together legal experts from Austria, Switzerland, Quebec and France, the aim is to show that the socialisation of law particularly affects the general concepts and sources of private law. Indeed, like substantive law, these are likely to adapt to the needs of the societies in which they operate. This event will also provide an opportunity to pay special tribute to Professor Michael Rainer, who throughout his career has worked to develop international teaching and research partnerships with a view to promoting the study of comparative law. The conference will be held in person at the Université de Corse (amphi Ettori, FDSP, Campus Mariani) and by videoconference. Prior registration is required. Dates: From Wednesday 29 April 2026 at 1:30 pm to Thursday 30 April 2026 at 6:00 pm. Amphi Ettori, UFR Droit Eco, Campus Mariani, Corti. Proposed by : Mediterranean Legal Research Team.
