Lighting: Fred Moreau. At dusk, a group of dancers forms and transforms, announcing a spellbinding vigil, plunged into an ancestral dream. Dressed in nocturnal costumes, they take turns embodying characters from popular Corsican culture, from the Porettu-Brandu carnival and from the island's magical folklore. Their ceaseless, collective movement explores the invisible and the unspeakable, culminating in a joyous celebration of humans by themselves. Like the ancestral carnival that celebrated agrarian life and the seasons, Legenda is a contemporary ritual that updates characters from our traditional culture. Featuring 4 dancers and 2 musicians, the piece revisits the Corsican imagination, summoning up myths and rituals, while questioning the fundamental needs, values and ideals they reflect, and their universal significance.
