L'ALLIANCE DE L'HOMME ET DU CHATAIGNIER : POUR UN NOUVEAU NARRATIF
Sports/loisirs/sciences
From 17/05 to 17/05.
Parc Galea - Talk: "THE ALLIANCE OF MAN AND CHESTNUT: for a new narrative". Don Mathieu Santini, University Professor of regional cultures and languages at the "Places, Identities, Spaces and Activities" laboratory of the University of Corsica and the CNRS, will be taking part in a major public talk on Sunday 17 May from 2.00 pm as part of the Sunday meetings at Parc Galea. When we think of the Corsican chestnut tree, two complementary images come to mind: that of the breadfruit tree and that of its destruction to make way for tannin factories, both of which are well documented (27 verses) in U Lamentu di u castagnu, written by Antonbattistu Paoli, known as Paoli di Taglio, and published in 1926. As part of the "E Voce di u Castagnu" project run by INRAE in partnership with the University of Corsica (FRES), the aim is to get researchers and artists to work together to develop new narratives that can encourage new representations of the chestnut tree, the chestnut and the Corsican chestnut grove. The question of the alliance between man and the chestnut tree addressed in this talk is not one of marketing, but of real cooperation, which can be grasped from a cosmology buried beneath the leaves of the tree, under its bark, in the gestures and words of the man who has united with it according to a thousand-year-old protocol, between immanence and transcendence. This public talk will be followed by a lecture at 3pm by Anthony Berthou, nutritionist, entitled "Common sense on our plate: the truth and falsehoods of nutritional prejudices". This initiative is part of the PIA UNIversité: pour la Transformation au service des territoires Insulaires méditerranéens, supported by the University of Corsica. Dates: Sunday 17 May 2026 from 14:00 to 15:00, Parc Galea, Taglio Isolaccio. Proposed by : Laboratoire Lieux, Identités, eSpaces et Activités (CNRS / Université de Corse), Mission science avec et pour la société. In partnership with : Parc Galea.
