University events at Parc Galea: a day dedicated to Pasquale Paoli As part of the "Rendez-vous de l'Université" at the Parc Galea, a day will be dedicated to the tercentenary of the birth of Pasquale Paoli on Sunday 14 September 2025. Lecturers and researchers from the Università di Corsica will be sharing their knowledge and research on Pasquale Paoli at conferences, round tables and debates, covering the key moments in Paoli's life and examining his social, political and military work. On the programme for the day: 11.00 am - Lecture "The last of the Templars" by Philippe Josserand, Senior Lecturer in Medieval History at Nantes University 1.00 pm - Stonda Culturale: a musical presentation of ancient Corsican instruments by the Musée de la Corse's sound library and the discovery of exciting initiatives by students at the University of Corsica. From 2pm onwards, the afternoon will be devoted to examining the career and influence of the 'Babbu di a patria' in the context of Pasquale Paoli's tercentenary: 2.00 pm: "The medieval origins of the Regno Di Corsica" by Vannina Marchi, University Professor of Medieval History, "Places, Identities, Spaces and Activities" Laboratory, University of Corsica/CNRS, 2.30pm: "The sources and contributions of Paolian thought" by Jean-Guy Talamoni, lawyer and senior lecturer, "Places, Identities, Spaces and Activities" Laboratory, University of Corsica/CNRS, 15:00: "Why and how did Corsica become an independent nation" by Erick Miceli, associate researcher in modern history, "Places, Identities, Spaces and Activities" Laboratory, University of Corsica/CNRS, 15h30: "The search for happiness in the 18th century from Corsica to the United States" by Wanda Mastor, Associate Professor of Public Law, Mediterranean Legal Research Team, University of Corsica, 4.00 pm: An open discussion with the audience and all the speakers. Throughout the day, you will also be able to discover : Exhibitions on Pasquale Paoli, A stop-motion film produced by the Art and Design department at the University of Corsica, A project to create a place of commemoration retracing the work of Pasquale Paoli entitled "Paoli quì" and visual productions retracing the work of Pasquale Paoli through his emblematic actions entitled "Paoli 3.0" by students from Corsica's IUT, Lingua Materna" initiatives by the Storia 97 Association, Traditional Corsican instruments by the Musée de la Corse sound library.
