Ballu : Young Corsican Ballet and young island creations, Tuesday 24 March 2026 at 6.30pm. Director: Patricia Portal Gozzi. Cast: Dancers from the Jeune Ballet Corse, island dancers. The Centre Culturel Universitaire is hosting an exceptional evening celebrating young Corsican dancers and the Jeune Ballet Corse, a pre-professional training structure founded by Patricia Portal-Gozzi. Over 15 years, the Jeune Ballet Corse has trained 134 young dancers from the island, 61 of whom have gone on to professional careers. Of these, 28 have gone on to become professional dancers, 19 have obtained the State diploma of dance teacher and 14 are working in professions linked to art and culture. With 32 original choreographic creations, this company has criss-crossed Corsica, offering young talent a stage on which to express itself and become professional. On this evening, the dancers of the Jeune Ballet Corse will take over the prerogative and share the stage with university students and pupils from the Académie de Danse d'Ajaccio, an 'institution' that is celebrating its 50th anniversary and has produced some of the biggest names in dance. Among the most famous are Isabelle Ciaravola - principal dancer with the Paris Opera Ballet - Guillaume Hulot - principal dancer with the Frankfurt Ballet - and Gaëtan Morlotti - principal dancer with the Ballets de Monte-Carlo. This meeting of young dancers promises a vibrant celebration of island dance!
