From 23/05 to 23/05.

Saturday 23rd May 2026. Free admission from 3pm to midnight. Mimoria Tramandata prisenta "Medievu" at 9pm. To mark Museum Night, the Musée de la Corse invites you to an evening of history and emotion. The Medievu project offers a veritable odyssey through the Middle Ages in Corsica. Born in December 2013 from an ambitious dream, this musical tale retraces the history of a nation by blending narration, music and song, in a subtle balance between tradition and creation. Far from a simple historical account, it invites audiences to feel and understand a rich and tormented era, without having to read about it. Medievu is a catharsis, a plunge into the epic of men and legends, inspired by both historical works and oral tradition. Through the tender eyes of a grandfather, Missiavu Antonu, telling his granddaughter Aurelia a story that has become schoolwork, the audience is taken on a marvellous journey through the centuries. Punctuated by music and song, this veritable musical opera explores the universal themes of medieval life: love, war, suffering, power struggles and revolutionary impulses. It also evokes emblematic figures such as Ugo Colonna, Arrigo Bel Messere, Sinunceddu di a Rocca, Sambucucciu d'Alandu and Vincentello d'Istria. In a period marked by upheaval, conflict and major spiritual questions, Medievu aptly echoes the profound changes in Corsican society, sometimes reminiscent of today. Cl. Dominique Albetrina. The Mimoria Tramandata association was founded in 2000 under the law of 1901. At the outset, its main vocation was to pass on its knowledge. It set up a number of secular and sacred polyphonic singing workshops in the Gravona and Prunelli valleys, gave talks in primary schools in Ajaccio and travelled to Tuscany, Sardinia and the Basque Country to present its work and cultural message. Over time, the association expanded its activities with the creation of the cultural group. As a tool for reflecting on today's society, the association's creations became the only means of raising awareness of Corsican problems: acculturation, a threatened language, a dying economy, divisive politics, a scorned history, etc... After the release of several CDs: spirendu, scola in giru, canti sacri inda Gravona, vint'anni fà-vint'anni dopu, 1996-2011, Gran' Pasquali, Malamorti 2 and finally Medievu, the association is now conveying an oral transmission of heritage with a cultural message committed to history and identity. Always in the spirit of Riacquistu rather than "Prufitu Culturali", the association remains an active cultural activist. Preserving and passing on is the association's credo.
