From 14/06 to 14/06.
Parc Galea - Public interview with Wanda Mastor. "WE, THE PEOPLE... AND THE PEOPLE FORGET. A LEGAL ACCOUNT OF NATIVE AMERICANS". Wanda Mastor, Associate Professor of Public Law at the University of Corsica's Mediterranean Legal Research Team, will be taking part in a wide-ranging public discussion on Sunday 14 June from 2.00 pm as part of the Sunday meetings at Parc Galea. "I believe that the North American Indian race is doomed to perish, and I cannot help thinking that the day Europeans settle on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, it will have ceased to exist". Tocqueville summed up perfectly the treatment accorded to Native Americans by the new people settled on their land. To the de facto dispossession was added a de jure dispossession, with laws and court rulings slowly but irretrievably depriving them of their ancestral sovereignty. The American people, born at the same time as its Constitution, which opens with the famous phrase "We, the People...", bears the stamp of this original sin: the extinction of the people who preceded it. This public talk will be followed by a lecture at 3pm by historian Emmanuelle Perez-Tisserand, entitled "The true story of the Wild West: beyond the Hollywood myth". This initiative is part of the PIA UNIversité: pour la Transformation au service des territoires Insulaires méditerranéens, supported by the University of Corsica. Dates: Sunday 14 June 2026 from 14:00 to 15:00. Parc Galea, Taglio Isolaccio. Proposed by : Mediterranean Legal Research Team. Mission science with and for society. In partnership with : Parc Galea.
