Rendez-vous des doctorants: lecture by Aurore Moulin. Aurore Moulin is a doctoral student in the Environmental Sciences Laboratory at the University of Corsica. On Monday 8 June 2026 at 5pm in Room 1 of the University Library, she will give a talk entitled "Vulnerability of Corsican Mediterranean coastal lagoons revealed by the responses of phytoplankton and macrophytes to environmental and climatic forcings". Mediterranean coastal lagoons are ecosystems that provide numerous ecosystem services, but are subject to increasing climatic and human pressures. Assessing their vulnerability to support their future trajectories requires an integrated approach that takes account of their exposure to pressures and their resilience. Long-term physico-chemical and biological monitoring carried out in four major Corsican lagoons has enabled us to analyse the responses of phytoplankton and macrophytes to past environmental and climatic forcings. The results highlight contrasting trajectories between sites, particularly in terms of hydro-ecological stability, with similarities in the evolution of phytoplankton and macrophytes. However, they also highlight the differences in reactivity between these two biological compartments: phytoplankton is mainly controlled by nutrient inputs and responds rapidly to changes, whereas macrophytes respond more gradually. However, the systems most exposed to anthropogenic pressures appear to be the most dynamic and therefore the most sensitive to future changes. This study underlines the importance of multi-component approaches and site-specific management strategies to preserve coastal lagoons.
