Conference: "Les rois du maquis: Bandits d'honneur ou brigands?" hosted by Gérard Papi - Mediateca Centru di corsica - Corti, Marti u 31 di marzu - 18.00. Gérard PAPI, guide and lecturer, will give a talk on the vendetta in Corsica: its origins, causes and codes. He will then retrace the lives of a number of notorious bandits from the 19th century to the inter-war years of the 20th century, drawing parallels between the bandits of honour and the brigands. Finally, she will look at the creation of the voltigeur regiment, which hunted down bandits, and the purging of Corsica: an attempt by the French government to eradicate bandits.
